Square One Shopping Centre wins big at the ICSC awards

This fall, the #InsideNKPR team attended the 2016 Canadian Shopping Centre Awards – yes that’s a thing. We had fun meeting fashion and dining destination marketing and management pros from across the country. We were proud to cheer on our favourite shopping centre Square One (#nkclientlove 💁). 

Each year the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centres) recognizes Canada’s most innovative shopping centres for outstanding achievement across marketing, development and design, and retail store design categories. And this year the ICSC awarded  Square One Shopping Centre with FIVE awards. We’re excited to share a little more info on these big wins. 👏🏽👏🏾👏🏻👏🏿👏🏼


Luxury, Now in Residence: To create awareness for the Grand Opening of the new Luxury Wing and to increase sales during the final months of the four year redevelopment, Square One planned and executed a multi-channel campaign that featured the visually-stunning Summer Dreaming art shoot by renowned photographer David Drebin and model Drena De Niro. The campaign included high-fashion photography, targeted ad placement, media and influencer relations, social media engagement, and strategic partnerships - winning a Silver Maple Leaf in marketing for a grand opening, expansion or renovation!Luxury, Now in Residence: To create awareness for the Grand Opening of the new Luxury Wing and to increase sales during the final months of the four year redevelopment, Square One created a campaign that featured the visually-stunning Summer Dreaming art shoot by renowned photographer David Drebin, starring model Drena De Niro. The TIFFxSQ1 campaign leveraged the glamour of the Toronto International Film Festival to launch Square One’s Fall/Winter campaign featuring style star, Julia Restoin Roitfeld. The campaign showcased the shopping centre’s new luxury wing through press relations, social media, influencer engagement and TIFF activations – winning a Silver Maple Leaf in multichannel marketing initiatives.

SQ1CONCEPT: As a prelude to the centre’s Luxury wing grand opening, the stunning pop-up boutique was host to a series of public and media events showcasing the designs, clothing and products of 11 of Canada’s top emerging and established designers – including Sid Neigum, Greta Constantine, Stephan Caras, Beaufille, JOHN + JENN, LINE and more – and winning a Silver Maple Leaf in public relations. #NKPRclient.


#Centralicious: This whimsical campaign by Harper’s Bazaar illustrator and Karlie Kloss’s BFF Gretchen Röehrs featured simple fashion sketches created with various foods coupled with unique daily posts that enticed shoppers to share them. The campaign was a hit on social media – and winner of a Silver Maple Leaf in social media marketing.

South West Expansion: Last but not least, Square One took home a Gold Maple Leaf in marketing for its new expansion. The new wing is home to a 130,000 square foot Holt Renfrew, flagship Harry Rosen, Salvatore Ferragamo, Marc Cain, Wolford, Michael Kors, kate spade new york and more. Hello beautiful 😍

Gusto 54 Catering Event wit PR by NKPR

Gusto 54 Catering X JessGo: Live Street Art & Eats

On September 15th Gusto 54 Catering joined forces with Toronto-based artist and performer JessGo (Jess Gorlicky) to bring together food and art through a live art spectacle outside of Gusto 101. Gusto 54 Catering served bites of its Southern Italian inspired menu to the community, while JessGo created two canvasses inspired by food. The King West community was pleasantly surprised as they walked by Gusto 101 to hear live music, were offered delicious food and invited to join in on the fun. Guests were also encouraged to take pictures, share their experience on social and watch the live art spectacle. Not only were the festivities a hit, but Gusto 54 will now be auctioning off the pieces of art in support of #AmatricianaTO to help raise funds for the Italy earthquake relief efforts.

NKPR Toronto Film Festival Countdown Event 2016

Festival Countdown 2016: A Recap

On Wednesday August 24th, President of NKPR, Natasha Koifman opened her doors to entertainment industry influencers, tastemakers and media for her agency’s annual Film Festival Countdown party. In partnership with MEC, Canada’s go-to place for outdoor gear, know-how and inspiration, the scene was primed beautifully for guests to enjoy good times outside. Guests chatted amongst an illuminated high-performance bicycle installation, while braver guests posed for selfies in the pool with MEC’s 17ft canoe! As always, the poolside venue was looking its best thanks to Caspar Haydar.

Kicking off Toronto’s film festival season, the annual event also featured a preview of NYC-based artist Peter Tunney’s upcoming charitable exhibit that will be hosted at the NKPR IT House during the festival. 50% of the sales of Tunney’s work will be donated to Artists for Peace and JusticeTunney’s “Don’t Panic” piece set the backdrop for Philadelphia Flyers defenceman, Mike del Zotto, who was the event’s DJ for the evening.

Guests indulged in savoury bites from partners including Emma’s Eatery, Panago Pizza, McDonald’s and a sweet table from Cakes by Mickey. To toast, guests sipped on Apothic Wines, enjoyed bubbles and popcorn from Henkell, beer from Muskoka Breweries and stayed hydrated with Flow WaterPage Activations captured guests in action as they fete the pre-festival celebrations.

Held at Natasha’s lovely abode, editors sipped on blossom-infused cocktails and dined at a candlelit, poolside dinner. Sounds like a perfect late summer evening, no?
