#NKCLIENTLOVE: A NIGHT IN LA DOLCE VITA

Posted on

It was a night to remember as the Grand Rotunda was transformed into beautiful Italian landscape to welcome guests into this year’s La Dolce Vita event. The second annual fundraising gala was held in support of the Oakville Hospital Foundation and The Trillium Health Partners and raised a record-breaking $90,000! The evening featured a pizza cook-off, shopping for a cause, and of course, some Italian antipasto.

Over 1500 community members, influencers and celebrity guests came to Square One Shopping Centre to experience a large variety of food stations, cocktails, and espresso. The vendors included the cutest gelato bar truck, and guests could indulge in a charcuterie spread as people on stilts paraded around the venue in Venetian masks.

The event featured special culinary host Bobby Flay, who personally judged the pizza making contest between two representatives from the foundation. Flay was pictured trying different vendors and commenting on how to make the perfect pizza to event emcee and Top Chef Canada judge Janet Zuccarini.

The mall was transformed into a beautiful Italian-inspired piazza with fountains, bite-sized decadent Italian pasta, and even Italian treats do try. Guests were transported into a sweet night for a good cause and the evening did not disappoint!

Thank you to everyone who supported La Dolce Vita we can’t wait to see what happens next!

Urban Beekeeping at Square One

Posted on

This upcoming Monday, Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga is hosting an exclusive event to launch their new sustainability initiative, featuring urban beekeeping! Yes, beekeeping! The Square One rooftop will now be home to four beehives, in an effort to support the growth of their population. It’s amazing to see Square One making use of *all* space, and giving these bees a new home!

To help kick-start the initiative, Square One will be partnering with health and wellness superstar Steph Shep, and Nike trainer, Eva Redpath, including a free body conditioning and flow class led by Eva on the roof!

Did you know? Bee populations are currently in decline all around the world, with urban development and climate change as just two causes for their habitat loss. “At least 30% of the world’s crops and 90% of all plants require cross-pollination to spread and thrive, and here in Canada, bees are our most important pollinators.” – Source

The Outrageous Lipstick Collection

An Outrageous Event
with Annabelle and Hayley Elsaesser

We’re throwing it back to last week’s bright and bold pre-launch event for the new Outrageous Collection! A collaboration between Canadian Beauty Company, Annabelle Cosmetics, and Toronto-designer, Hayley Elsaesser, the Outrageous Collection is a limited-edition selection of 10 vivid lipsticks which launched officially this past Monday! If you know Hayley, you’ll expect striking colours and prints that POP- and that’s what you get! This was one of the most visually pleasing events to boot, with every corner offering something fun to do, wild clothes to try on, or beautiful artwork to view.

The lipsticks each feature packaging and shades designed and hand-selected by Hayley herself, as well as a non-animal tested, fragrance and Paraben-free formula enriched with hydrating ingredients! A fun note- the sheer, frosty, and gold-flecked Going Bananas shade (an online exclusive) can be used as a transformative colour when layered on top of others, or even as a highlighter! The 10 shades are $10.95 each and are now available online, with limited shades in-stores.

Hosted in her boutique shop on Queen Street West, the event showcased Hayley’s signature pieces, which guests could shop as they previewed the collection and enjoyed some killer music. (The DJ was seriously on point with her music selection perfectly suiting the bright and bold atmosphere). The space also featured beautiful prints created by photographer Nastia Cloutier-Ignatiev (@nastia.jpg), featuring some of the Outrageous lipsticks!

Of course, guests were invited to not only get a taste of the collection, but of some delicious treats with specially made cocktails, cookies, cotton candy, and even adorable pink waffle-burgers!

Between snacks, guests were treated to fresh manicures with an added POP from Hayley Elsaesser nail wraps, as well as makeovers (with Annabelle products of course)!

No event is complete without a photo booth! Placed in one of the change rooms, Guests were coming in and out for snaps with friends throughout the evening. There were gigantic cut-outs of lipsticks, making for silly and fun memories- even Hayley couldn’t resist getting a few photos!

Overall the event was a hit and a perfect way to celebrate the launch of such a ___ range of lipsticks. Make sure you check out the products and place an order before they’re gone! Tweet me (@natashankpr) with the name of your favourite shade (or even what YOU would name your own collection)! 🙂

Tea for two? How about tea for all of Canada!

DAVIDsTEA spread some holiday cheer with their first nationwide DavidsTeaParty! For one hour, tea lovers could visit any Canadian DAVIDsTEA store for a free cup of tea. The event supported Me To We, with $1 donated for every cup of tea served.

DAVIDsTEA also held a special live stream pop up Downtown Toronto, hosted by ETalk reporter Liz Trinnear! The event was broadcasted live on the DAVIDsTEA Facebook page for fans across Canada, drawing 16,000 views.

Guests enjoyed their cozy drinks while listening to a beautiful performance by French Canadian, Jonathan Roy! The DAVIDsTEA pop up also offered guests a Rafiki workshop, where they could bead their own bracelets.

The pop up offered a variety of delicious DAVIDsTEA blends, including Santa’s Secret, Caramel Shortbread, Matcha Matsu and, of course, the signature, Me To We.

We saw a lot of guests stop by throughout the afternoon, but no one left without capturing a memory with the digital photo booth!

DAVIDsTEA Party was a great success as people across Canada came together to enjoy good tea for a charitable cause! Iconic DAVIDsTEA cups could be seen dispersing around the city after the pop up closed up shop. It was a great experience to see Canada coming together! 🙂

MAUI MOISTURE LAUNCH

Posted on

On October 26, a group of Toronto’s beauty / lifestyle editors, bloggers and media personalities gathered at Crown Flora Studio in Parkdale for the first peek at innovative new haircare brand, Maui Moisture.

The group of 20+ attendees built moisture-rich terrariums inspired by the tropics, snacked on fruit & nut breakfast treats, and enjoyed fresh, cold-pressed juices from Greenhouse Juice Co. All terrarium botanicals and food ingredients were inspired by the island of Maui and featured some of the same key ingredients as Maui Moisture haircare products.

Media and influencers were educated on the good for you, good for earth benefits of Maui Moisture. All of these new products – with gorgeous packaging to look like fresh juices – are vegan, gluten-free, eco-friendly, with no parabens, no silicones, and no synthetic dyes. Maui Moisture products are all made with 100% pure aloe juice as the first ingredient, which is unique to the brand. Media and content creators explore delicious scents from Coconut Milk to Shea Butter to Agave and Bamboo.

Following the successful launch in Toronto, Maui Moisture made its debut in Montreal at the William Gray Hotel on October 27, with a group of media and influencers in attendance for a botanical-rich terrarium workshop by Crown Flora, and a product demonstration of the brand new collections. Media shared their haircare stories and explored which Maui Moisture products were the right fit for their beauty routines.

All attendees in both cities walked away with their own Nourish & Moisture+ Coconut Milk or Thicken & Restore+ Bamboo Fibers collections to try! All Maui Moisture products will land in Canada at major drugstores as of January 2017.

Gusto 54 Catering X JessGo: Live Street Art & Eats

Posted on

On September 15th Gusto 54 Catering joined forces with Toronto-based artist and performer JessGo (Jess Gorlicky) to bring together food and art through a live art spectacle outside of Gusto 101. Gusto 54 Catering served bites of its Southern Italian inspired menu to the community, while JessGo created two canvasses inspired by food. The King West community was pleasantly surprised as they walked by Gusto 101 to hear live music, were offered delicious food and invited to join in on the fun. Guests were also encouraged to take pictures, share their experience on social and watch the live art spectacle. Not only were the festivities a hit, but Gusto 54 will now be auctioning off the pieces of art in support of #AmatricianaTO to help raise funds for the Italy earthquake relief efforts.

Needless to say, the food was a hit and the art turned out beautiful! Scroll down for behind the scenes images and a video from the event:

Shoot and Score for Charity

Despite their home team not winning the Stanley Cup since 1967 and holding name to the longest active championship drought in the NHL (bring it on 2011/12!), you’d think that Torontonian’s passion for the game of hockey might be on the decline. I mean, how could it not?

Well, guess again.

Toronto hockey fans are some of the most loyal and dedicated fans in the world and just because the Stanley Cup has been presented doesn’t mean its time to turn the page on our national pastime.

Hockey season in the GTA goes all summer long. It’s just that in summer, it’s ball and street hockey warriors who rule the rinks.

What could be better than a beautiful Toronto summer day, a few friends, and a never-ending rink of concrete to test out your skills?

That’s exactly the kind of thinking that lead to the creation of the first-ever Allstate Charity Ball Hockey Tournament! Allstate Insurance and the NHLPA joined forces for a great cause, as all proceeds will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel.

Players aged 6-12 are invited to come to the Hershey Centre in Mississauga on August 6th to take part in a jam-packed day of tournament action. With guest celebrity fans, NHL players, and gold medal-winning athletes taking part in the festivities, it promises to be a day future hockey stars will remember.

Plus, there’s going to be live music, face-painting, pictures, autographs, and FREE Allstate All-Canadians t-shirts and mini sticks for all players! Not to mention that every player gets free tickets for the whole family to see the All-Canadians Mentorship Camp Exhibition Game for right after the tournament!

Evidently in Toronto all the built-up frustration from not winning the Stanley Cup over the past 44 years is vented by hosting really cool summertime hockey events (even if we can’t host the best one of all: the Stanley Cup Parade).

Visit www.allstateballhockey.ca to register your team today!
