NKPR’s Mendocino Moment

Posted on

Last Thursday we mingled with a stylish group of Torontonians for the My Mendocino Moment reveal at the Toronto Eaton Centre. Unveiled in Mendocino’s window were six unique looks styled by a selection of style influencers including Stefania Yarhi, Street Style Photographer and Founder of Textstyles.ca; Misty Fox, Celebrity Makeup Artist and star of It Girl; Fashion Bloggers Danielle Roche and Bianca Venerayan from KastorandPollux.com; Fashion Blogger Gracie Carroll from GracieCarroll.com; Michelle Bilodeau and Rachelle Saevil, the Editorial and Creative Director behind FrontRowMag.com; and Sahar Nooraei, the Market Editor behind S/Style and Fashion Magazine.

The effect was stunning with each look showcasing a unique take on Mendocino’s current collection, inspiring us to get creative for our own individual fashions! And believe us, we went shopping, after we sampled the delicious candy bar, of course!

My Mendocino Moment will be on display at Mendocino locations across the GTA until May 31st. Be sure to check them out!

Dare to Wear: Canadian Cool

Posted on

What does it take to be Canadian Cool? For the past month, NKPR has been supporting Canadian designers and brands, while raising awareness and funds to support grassroots organizations in Africa who are turning the tide of the AIDS pandemic in their community. And with our Dare To Wear Love Canadian Cool challenge, we need your support to help raise these funds for The Stephen Lewis Foundation!

The challenge ends March 7, but in the meantime, who do you think wore Canadian Cool best?

Style Muse: the Year of the Snake

Posted on

With Chinese New Year this weekend, we couldn’t help but take inspiration from the Year of the Snake! Let’s celebrate the sixth sign of the Chinese Zodiac in style.

Skin is in. Slinky scales in supernatural power colours are winding their way into seductive wardrobes around the globe. Bring the look to your best accessory – your nails – with essie sleek stickers.

The colour of the 2013 Year of the Snake is Black. Black is described in the Zodiac as the colour of Space, Arctic night, darkness on the Abyss, a colour of deep waters and of course, the colour of the dark smoky eye you can create with Stila’s Stay All Day Wet-to-Set Eye Shadow Trio in Thunder Cloud.

For those who prefer a neutral palette, the Year of the Snake is best celebrated with a statement accessory. RW&CO.’s  new shoe collection (coming soon!) has just what you need with a pair of gold-snake print flats.

But let’s be honest, we’re the type to embrace the Snake from head to toe. Helping us out is a matching SYLK blazer and short suit from Mendocino, a bright snake print summer dress from Rachel Rachel Roy and a snake-inspired cardigan from Jones New York!

The IT List: May 24

Summer doesn’t officially kick off until June 20, but with Toronto temperatures hitting the high 20s’, we’d say it’s already arrived! Time to kick back, relax and enjoy the season!

Looking for a refreshing alternative to the typical syrupy sweet drinks of summer? We suggest an Aperol cocktail… or two!  [Chatelaine]

Speaking of refreshment, Bottle Green is a delightful sparkling water from the UK, naturally sweetened with handpicked flowers and fresh-pressed fruits. Martha Stewart approved!    [Toronto Sun]

Sandal season demands a pretty pedicure and essie’s got the perfect shades for summer! Cheeky names are essie‘s trademark… We think we’ll try “bikini so teeny”!   [Toronto Standard]

Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival is one of our favourite cultural events in the city! Our favourite exhibit of 2012? Jill Greenberg’s Glass Ceiling. Beautiful and thought-provoking.   [National Post]

When it comes to summer fashion… we love it all! Striped lacy tee from Rachel Rachel Roy? Yes please.  [Chatelaine]

Bold prints are all the rage this season! We love this scenic tank from Mendocino and bright floral printed skirt from Jones New York!  [Flare Magazine]

Picnic couture? We are going bananas over this yellow button-down from RW&CO!  [Fashion Magazine]
