It was a night to remember as the Grand Rotunda was transformed into beautiful Italian landscape to welcome guests into this year’s La Dolce Vita event. The second annual fundraising gala was held in support of the Oakville Hospital Foundation and The Trillium Health Partners and raised a record-breaking $90,000! The evening featured a pizza cook-off, shopping for a cause, and of course, some Italian antipasto.

Over 1500 community members, influencers and celebrity guests came to Square One Shopping Centre to experience a large variety of food stations, cocktails, and espresso. The vendors included the cutest gelato bar truck, and guests could indulge in a charcuterie spread as people on stilts paraded around the venue in Venetian masks.

The event featured special culinary host Bobby Flay, who personally judged the pizza making contest between two representatives from the foundation. Flay was pictured trying different vendors and commenting on how to make the perfect pizza to event emcee and Top Chef Canada judge Janet Zuccarini.

The mall was transformed into a beautiful Italian-inspired piazza with fountains, bite-sized decadent Italian pasta, and even Italian treats do try. Guests were transported into a sweet night for a good cause and the evening did not disappoint!

Thank you to everyone who supported La Dolce Vita we can’t wait to see what happens next!

Urban Beekeeping at Square One

Posted on

This upcoming Monday, Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga is hosting an exclusive event to launch their new sustainability initiative, featuring urban beekeeping! Yes, beekeeping! The Square One rooftop will now be home to four beehives, in an effort to support the growth of their population. It’s amazing to see Square One making use of *all* space, and giving these bees a new home!

To help kick-start the initiative, Square One will be partnering with health and wellness superstar Steph Shep, and Nike trainer, Eva Redpath, including a free body conditioning and flow class led by Eva on the roof!

Did you know? Bee populations are currently in decline all around the world, with urban development and climate change as just two causes for their habitat loss. “At least 30% of the world’s crops and 90% of all plants require cross-pollination to spread and thrive, and here in Canada, bees are our most important pollinators.” – Source

Party band, Dwayne Gretzky, wrapped the night with a spectacular musical performance!

The Crystal Holiday Tree will be on display throughout December and is an amazing 26.5’, adorned with 14 tiers of gorgeous crystals and topped with an iconic Swarovski Star. Oversized Swarovski gift boxes form its base, allowing customers a great backdrop for a selfie! A first-of-its-kind, the Sparkle Pop Up includes a digital playground with an interactive fashion experience for guests to enjoy. Among other cool features, customers can virtually try on jewellery with The Stylefinder, making it easier to tick some gifts off their lists! Tinsel Town at Thompson Toronto

The Thompson recently hosted their Tinsel Town at Thompson Toronto event, inviting guests to cozy up and watch a holiday film! Guests were welcomed onto the Rooftop Lounge for special holiday cocktails, the Berry Merry Holiday or the Cherry Cordial. Next, there were app-sized samples of classic diner menu items at the Thompson Diner, including poutine and even chicken and waffles! In the Lobby Bar, guests were greeted with a Snack Bar where they could load up on their favourite treats for the movie! Of course, you can’t watch a holiday film without hot chocolate. The Thompson provided a fully stocked DIY Hot Chocolate Bar, with marshmallows, donuts, and candy cane skewers for the finishing touch! Check out some of NKPR’s Liu Jo street style…

“There’s nothing like a 60s throwback to make a girl feel glamorous. Paired with neutrals, leopard makes a big, gorgeous statement.” – Lauren

Hello, Abbey Road! The swinging sixties are back – with a vintage twist, the Liu Jo leopard statement coat would’ve make even style icon Eddie Sedgwick jealous.

“The epitome of fall fashion is the marriage of comfort and style… I could live in this oversized houndstooth jacket.” – Krystal

The menswear aesthetic balances out an otherwise feminine outfit – reminiscent of the Helmut Newton woman and the YSL Le Smoking suit, the Liu Jo tweed asymmetrical zip coat is a tasty treat for a daring fashion palate.

NKPR Loves Montreal

Posted on

Whether for pleasure or for work, we’re well-seasoned travellers at NKPR and love sharing our favourite restaurants, hotels, destinations and shops. This week’s feature? For many of us, a home away from home – Montreal!

The Loews Hôtel Vogue

Our go-to place to stay when we’re spending a night or a week in Montreal. We love it for its personalized service and luxury experience. After a recent $10 million renovation,  new suites are filled with vintage Vogue-inspired art and  premium features like a jacuzzi bath, 24 hour room service and spacious closets. We can always count on the Loews Hôtel Vogue for helping us catch up on our beauty sleep – we covet nights spent in the famously cozy beds! On occasion, we’ve also been known to enjoy  in-room pampering and relaxing treatments from the mobile spa, as well as the 24-hour state of the art gym for some early morning workouts!  Last but certainly not least…  the Loews Hôtel Vogue is also conveniently located right across the street from Ogilvy, one of the best spots for Montreal shopping. Need we say more?

La Société Montréal

A welcome addition to the Loews Hôtel Vogue and sister to Toronto’s Bloor-Yorkville hot spot La Société, the chic, intimate atmosphere and central location make it the perfect spot to dine with business partners, clients and friends. We highly recommend indulging at the Oyster Bar to start!

Olive and Gourmando

A local favourite that serves up some of the best paninis we’ve ever had! The menu is fresh and affordable and makes for the perfect afternoon lunch spot (in between shopping trips no less.)

Maison Marie Saint Pierre

With its convenient proximity to The Loews Hôtel Vogue, this is one of our favourite places to shop in Montreal. The pieces are chic and boast beautiful, streamlined designs in neutral palettes with a European edge – the boutique itself is a must-see for its unique interiors!

Cahier D’Exercices

Another favourite, Cahier D’Exercices features a mix of eclectic and avant garde international runway designers in an ultra-modern space. The unique concept store is located in the heart of Old Montreal (side note: no trip to Montreal is complete without visiting this historic area!)

Mont Royal

If you’re looking for a scenic workout, running or hiking up Mont Royal is a great way to enjoy the fresh air and features an amazing view of the city!

The Westmount Park and Library

We always like to take a moment and enjoy some of Montreal’s incredible cultural institutions, and this is the perfect oasis from the fast-pace of events, meetings and shopping. From the scenic landscape to the beautiful library greenhouse, it’s the perfect spot to catch up on some reading!

You tweeted your favourite Montreal destinations, here’s what our #LoewsInVogue contest entrants had to share!

A Montreal landmark for shopping! That’s one thing we love about this city – the great selection of both major brands and small boutiques.

Old Montreal

So beautiful and historic, no trip to Montreal is complete without a walk through the cobblestone streets. It’s also home to some of the best boutiques in the city with unique finds.

One of the top shopping destinations in Montreal (and Canada!). It’s also steps away from our go-to place to say, Loews Hôtel Vogue…how convenient!

Bota Bota, Floating Spa

Squeezing in a trip to the spa is always a good idea when you’re travelling. We’ve heard great things about Bota Bota with many of our followers recommending their services!

Denis Gagnon

Known for his “couture” approach to leather, precise cuts and airy silk pieces, Denis Gagnon is one of the most renowned Canadian designers of his generation!

Boutique UNICORN

A great source for unique, lesser-known brands in a beautiful location – a truly amazing shopping experience!

NKPR’s Holiday Gift Guide: For Her

Posted on

This holiday season, we’ve made it our goal to get the special people on our list the most perfect gift out there. The result? Four easy to shop, easy to love guides that are ideal for everyone on your list. Befitting an office full of fashion-savvy ladies (ahem, and one man), the first installment is a collection that showcases the most fabulous gifts for every lady on your list. From Mom, to your college roommate or amazing best friend, we’ve got a pretty foolproof  list of ideas that won’t disappoint!

for her

1. Still haven’t found that one perfect gift? We have: the Pronenza lace top, available at M For Mendocino. Don’t bother including a gift receipt. This one won’t be returned.

2. All those holiday calories coming your way? Go ahead, indulge. The Jones New York ‘Mercer Bootcut’ denim has secret slimming features (including stretch panel technology) that smooth, support and slim the waistline for a perfect fit.

3. This one’s a no-brainer: no woman should go without a sleek manicure. With the Winter Collection, the colour geniuses at essie did all the work for you: just pick your fave shades from the cool and cozy hues, perfect for the chilly months ahead.

4. Stila’s festive Snow Angel colour palette is as cute (and yet just as practical) as it gets: a snowflake-shaped pan containing 12 flattering cheek colours and 18 versatile eye shadows that can be applied wet or dry. The best part? It comes with a deluxe Stay All Day Waterproof Volumizing Mascara, as well as a step-by-step artistry look book for inspiration and tips. Brilliant!

5. The holidays mean one thing: sparkle. Whether you’re hanging out under the mistletoe, or gifting your sister with the perfect New Year’s Eve outfit that you can inconspicuously borrow, RACHEL Rachel Roy’s Lara Jumpsuit is as glam as it gets.

6. Stocking stuffers are always the hardest part of sartorial gift giving. What’s something little, cute, and useful that just about any woman can’t live without? Tweezerman’s animal print slant tweezers. Done!

7. While we don’t all have the perfect set of lashes, Ardell’s Double Up Lashes Collection is our little (secret!) helper this season, with lashes that are natural, thick, and come in three different styles. We won’t tell if you won’t.

8. Mendocino’s beaded Parker dress is one of those wardrobe staples that transition from party to party without losing its wow-factor. Need we say more?
