#NKClientLove: DAVIDsTEA 10TH ANNIVERSARY

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS WITH DAVIDsTEA

DAVIDsTEA was founded in 2009 and the company quickly spread across Canada. The many flavours, bright blue and signature tea accessories have become iconic to the tea landscape. The 10th Anniversary dinner was decorated with sophistication and created to display the passion behind each tea. The company was created to bring people together from all over and show how fun and delicious the beverage can be — which the event successfully captured!

The elevator chimed at the Thompson Toronto and as the door opened, the sight of DAVIDsTEA blue welcomed the select media to celebrate the 10 incredible years with the beloved tea retailer.

The table was decorated elegantly with blue and details of gold with floral andDAVIDsTEA accents as the centrepieces. Hosted by chef Eden Grinshpan, the dinner took place at The Thompson Toronto rooftop and overlooked the gorgeous skyline of the city. The weather was sunny and warm allowing media to enjoy dinner and drinks on the patio.

The drink and food menu was curated to be paired with popular DAVIDsTEA flavours. Each course had a tea pairing such as the Apricot Glazed Lamb Rack that was paired with the David’s Tea Organic Nepal Black tea. The finale was a tea-infused dessert, which featured a Forever Nuts glaze over ice cream and sticky toffee pudding.

There were photo opportunities and Customizable DAVIDsTEA Glass Nordic Tea Mugs with the onsite calligrapher Sarah Skrlj for each guest to take home.

With TIFF approaching soon, we’ve rounded up the best Toronto hotspots to visit in between movies. Whether you enjoy a good patio cocktail or want to be on the lookout for A-list TIFF stars in town, we’ve got a little something for everyone to do to make your TIFF experience that much better.

The Thompson Hotel | 550 Wellington St W.

Located in King West Village, Thompson Hotel has one of the best and most popular views of the city. It’s known as a celebrity hot spot during TIFF, but also year round, featuring celebrities such as The Weeknd and Selena Gomez who visited the Diner, and popular guests during the TIFF season such as Bradley Cooper, Kate Hudson and James Franco. It has also hosted notable premieres and celebrity parties in the past, making it a great place to be during TIFF season to spot your fave celebrity. This year, The Thompson Hotel is even creating film-themed cocktails based on this year’s TIFF lineup- available from September 6th- 16th.

Aside from celeb sightings and film inspired cocktails, The Thompson also offers panoramic views of Toronto from its Rooftop Lounge and seasonal pool. Be sure to dine in comfort in the Thompson Diner open really early and really late, perfect for pre or post movie.

JOEY Restaurant | 1 Dundas St W.

Right in the heart of Downtown Toronto at the Eaton Centre, JOEY has become a favourite restaurant of ours! The decor and atmosphere help to bring the ultimate casual dining experience that is vibrant and relaxed. Wednesday’s are our favourite days with half-priced bottles of wine and globally inspired dishes to pair! JOEY will definitely be a hot spot during TIFF that is right in the middle of all the Toronto action! Be sure to make your Wednesday night reso now.

How to Celebrate Canada Day this year!

Canada Day is only a few days away so we’ve put together a quick list of some summery and Canadian celebratory essentials for what you can do and what you can eat this weekend!

WHAT TO EAT

Pusateri’s has some incredible recipes that will last you the entire long weekend. Check out their recommendations for the most delicious meals to celebrate Canada’s birthday this year. Check out their store hours here to see if you can make any last minute trips on Monday!

Canada Day typically means lots of chilled beer and cocktails, but if you’re looking for something a little simpler with less of an edge (and low caffeine), try DAVIDsTEA’s most Canadian blend, the Maple Syrup Oolong!

WHAT TO DO

It’s going to be a BEAUTIFUL and HOT weekend (remember to wear sunscreen and drink lots of water!), so what better way to make the most of it than by getting out of the city and enjoying nature! MEC has some great items for literally anything and everything you could want to do outside this weekend- from kayaking, camping amidst the trees, and even cooking your own pizza anywhere you go!

If the city is more your vibe, catch some sun and some sangrias on the Thompson Toronto rooftop! They’ve recently redesigned the space and it is simply stunning (and they also introduced some new summer cocktails that you just have to try)!

What will you try from Thompson Diner’s New Menu?

Everybody loves a good Diner! The Thompson Hotel downtown TO recently reinvented their menu and we’re obsessed! There’s an overwhelming amount of mouthwatering dishes available- you’ll probably want to book off the afternoon just to try it all. We recently made a visit ourselves and came up with a list of some of our favourites:

If you want to start with a bang, you gotta try the Thompson’s Chicken and Waffles! The chicken is juicy, the waffle is homemade, and you can glaze it in amazing maple syrup- it’s revolutionary.

How could you even follow that performance? One of the crowning jewels is the Truffle Mac n’ Cheese! It’s truly a must-have, you will NEVER regret the oozy provolone and mozzarella, the hint of cheddar and the drizzle of truffle oil.

Next up is the classicly delicious Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup! It’s the perfect comfort food for rainy cold days… or just everyday!

If you need a breakfast that will hold you over, definitely try the Huevos Rancheros! With crispy tostadas, black beans, queso fresco, pickled fresnos, salsa ranchera, and a bit of cilantro, it’s a great start to the day.

Love fries? Love them loaded? Get the Thompson’s All-Star Fries with beef and bean chili, beer cheese fondue, bacon, and ranch dressing. I know, it sounds amazing, and yes, you will want to try them!

If all you need is a little snack, something on the side, or something to share, order the Hummus with za’atar, soft pitas, and olive oil. You can also choose to add spicy lamb or charred eggplant!

Need the perfect drink to compliment the perfect meal? There’s something for every palate. Grab a Bloody Caesar before dinner or a Mimosa with your brunch! Need to wake up a bit or a doze of sweetness? The Thompson Diner has incredible coffee, hot chocolate, and of course, milkshakes! It wouldn’t be a diner without milkshakes, would it?
