#SMWNKPR Wrap Up

February 10, 2011, 8:16 pm

It’s the day after our Social Media Week party, Truth, Dare, Double Dare, Promise to ReTweet and my coffee this morning was extra large. It was a late night, yes, but a great night, too!

Over 100 guests attended live and got to experience the incredible atmosphere created by breathe 360, dboxx and DJ Sydney Blu’s music. I tweeted this last night, but I’ll blog it now, too: it was Wednesday but Sydney Blu made it feel like Saturday! 😉

Mike Farrell, SVP Research & Strategic Insights for Conversion, got the panel off to a great start. Oscar winner Paul Haggis told the crowd how social media has helped spread awareness for his charity Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ), and the ongoing need in Haiti. (Guests made donations to APJ last night and you can, too. Just click here. You can also donate via the QR code, courtesy Conversion — keep scrolling down.) Toromagazine.com Editor-in-Chief William Morassutti spoke about what the explosion in social media use says about our needs to connect to other people.

And the Tweeting! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much! (Search #SMWNKPR on Twitter to see what I mean.)

Since this was a social media party, we had guests joining us virtually, too—watching the party via our live-streaming video, sharing their NSFW secrets and double daring other guests! Here are some of our favourite “truths” from the night:

“my guilty pleasure is Miley Cyrus”

“boxers or briefs. my boss prefers a black thong”

“the first boy i ever kissed was later deported back to ireland for violent criminal activity”

“I LOVE when people brush the hair off my face…”
