We’re a full-service agency operating across Canada and the US — and we’re looking for a passionate and strategic Account Manager to join our team.

 

Overview

The Account Manager at NKPR plays a central role in managing client relationships and delivering integrated communications programs across industries. Based in our Toronto office, the Account Manager reports to Account Directors or senior team members and is responsible for overseeing day-to-day account execution, providing strategic input, and coaching junior staff.

This role balances hands-on execution with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality work that supports client success and contributes to agency growth.

 

Role Expectations

The Account Manager is expected to manage a portfolio of accounts with professionalism, strategic thinking, and attention to detail. This includes leading daily client interactions, building and executing PR and social media strategies, and ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget.

The Account Manager also plays an important role in mentoring junior staff and supporting senior leadership by providing visibility into account progress, risks, and opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts.
  • Provide strategic input into PR and social media programs, ensuring alignment with client business objectives.
  • Lead the development and execution of media relations initiatives, event activations, and campaign deliverables.
  • Draft and edit communication materials including press releases, pitches, media advisories, client updates, and social content.
  • Manage account budgets, timelines, and reporting to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Anticipate client needs, flag risks, and proactively present solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff, providing constructive feedback and supporting professional growth.
  • Effectively up-manage senior leadership by keeping them informed of account health, priorities, and emerging challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong media relationships, identifying opportunities across traditional, digital, and social channels.
  • Monitor industry trends and incorporate insights into account strategies.
  • Step in to support tactical execution as needed, maintaining a proactive, hands-on approach.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in a public relations agency environment.
  • Post-secondary education in public relations, journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful PR strategies at both local and national levels.
  • Strong client relationship management skills with experience handling multiple accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior team members.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and solutions-oriented with strong project management skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to manage budgets and timelines effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
