This Canada Day, I’ve been thinking a lot about th This Canada Day, I’ve been thinking a lot about the word safety.

When my parents left Kiev in the late 1970s, they weren’t searching for a bigger house or a better job. They were searching for something much more fundamental: the chance to raise their children in a place where they could feel safe.

For most of my life, I only knew parts of their story. It wasn’t until recently that I learned what my mother believed was happening as our family left everything behind. It’s a story that has stayed with me ever since.

It also made me reflect on where we are today.

My parents believed Canada would offer their children a life free from the fear they had known. In so many ways, it has, and I will always be grateful for the opportunities this country has given my family.

But if I’m being honest, there are moments today when safety feels more fragile than it once did.

It reminded me that safety isn’t something we inherit. It’s something every generation has to protect.  Perhaps that’s our real inheritance. Not money or possessions, but sacrifice, resilience, courage, and the quiet belief that tomorrow can be better than today.

This story is about courage, gratitude, family, and what it truly means to build a life. It’s one of the most personal things I’ve ever written.

The full story is now live on my substack (go to my link in bio) NK Confidential. 🇨🇦🖤

Twenty-five years in business is a remarkable mile Twenty-five years in business is a remarkable milestone, reflecting vision, resilience, and a commitment to continually evolving.

I recently sat down with my good friend and @nkpr.inc client partner, @RobKlopot, Founder & CEO of @theforesthillgroup, to reflect on the company’s journey and the values that have guided its success.

As we talked, our conversation kept coming back to the importance of investing in people, building strong teams, and continually asking, “How can we do better? How can we evolve?” It’s a philosophy that resonates deeply with me as NKPR looks ahead to its own 25th year.

Celebrating milestones like this is always a reminder of the legacy and leadership behind every successful business.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

Women Supporting Women at the @st.felixcentre lunc Women Supporting Women at the @st.felixcentre luncheon at Hope House.

A couple weeks ago, I had the privilege of hosting a luncheon in support of St. Felix Centre’s  Hope House for Women and Children alongside my dear friend @saysosas, someone I have known for over 25 years.

Hope House is more than a housing initiative. It is a place of safety and dignity for women and children navigating homelessness, housing instability, domestic abuse, and some of life’s most difficult chapters. Today, the community is home to 31 modular residences. I still remember seeing the containers being brought in fully furnished and put together like a jenga in 2022 and not believing what I was seeing. Each one symbolized stability, compassion, and the promise of a fresh start.

What made the afternoon so meaningful was hearing from voices connected to this mission in different ways.

From Brian Harris, Executive Director of St. Felix Centre, speaking to the importance of interrupting cycles of generational poverty and creating opportunity, to motivational speaker @coach.carey, who invited us to reflect on finding joy in our everyday lives. Most powerfully, Sarah O’Neill, a former resident, now a successful lawyer,  whose story reminded everyone why this work matters.

And a heartfelt thank you to my dear friend @Vlittler, for keeping us all organized, @dorthyengleman & Q Media Solutions for creating a thoughtful video that touched us all and @jewelsbyalan for the beautiful pins donated in support of gift giving for the luncheon.

This day meant a great deal to me. As a young mother, I understand how quickly life can shift, and how encouraging support can change the course of someone’s story.

I left feeling deeply grateful for the community that came together, and for the work being done every day through Hope House to help women and children rebuild, restore, and move forward with hope.

THIS is women supporting women ✨

One of the greatest gifts we can give one another is the freedom to be ourselves.

When people feel accepted, respected, and valued for who they are, incredible things happen. Creativity grows. Relationships deepen. Communities become stronger.

At @nkpr.inc, we are proud to stand with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, to support voices that continue to shape culture, and to champion inclusion not just in June, but in everything we do.
