It’s award season time… 🏆   @yanunifilm has been s It’s award season time… 🏆

@yanunifilm has been shortlisted for the Academy Awards!!! ✨🎬 From hundreds of documentaries, this powerful film has risen into the top 15 and is one step closer to an Oscar nomination!!

YANUNI is produced by our client and dear friend @daxdasilva, @ageofunion, @leonardodicaprio, @anitaladkani and comes to us— from award winning film maker @richardladkani, @malaika.pictures. The film tells the story of Indigenous activist Juma Xipaia @juma_xipaia (who is also a producer on this film), Juma is the epitome of fearlessness and perseverance, alongside her husband Hugo Loss @losshugo, and their courageous fight to protect Indigenous rights and the Brazilian Amazon.

Eric and I had the privilege of watching this film evolve through multiple cuts, providing notes and feedback as YANUNI took its final shape. Once completed, we attended the premiere on closing night of the Tribeca Film Festival with Dax, Richard, Juma and Leo in attendance. YANUNI tells a story that feels urgent, human, and impossible to ignore. At its core, the film asks a simple but profound question. Are you listening?

This recognition matters because stories like this shift focus back to what truly deserves our attention. Indigenous guardianship. The protection of the Amazon. The communities and ecosystems we all (the entire world) depends on. 🌱

Seeing this film receive such global recognition is truly inspiring, because it amplifies voices that have long been ignored and reminds us why these stories must be told.

We are so proud to stand alongside this story. Fingers crossed as we head toward nominations on January 22nd. Whatever happens next, YANUNI has already made its mark. 🤍

Today marks 16 years since the earthquake in #Hait Today marks 16 years since the earthquake in #Haiti 🇭🇹

A day that forever changed the country  - and changed me.

It’s a day that reminds us why this work matters.
Haiti has endured unimaginable loss, instability, and hardship. And yet, what continues to rise above it all is resilience— the strength of young people who keep showing up for their futures, even when the odds are stacked against them.

My journey with Haiti and with @artistsforpeace has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. Through APJ, we’ve helped provide education and opportunity to more than 32,000 students, creating stability, dignity, and hope where it’s needed most. From time spent at the Academy for Peace & Justice, to welcoming our students to Toronto each year to bravely share their stories at our gala, I am constantly reminded of what courage, community, and possibility truly look like.

Today we remember those we lost.
We honour the lives forever changed.
And we reflect on how far we’ve come …and how much more there is to do.

I am endlessly proud of what we’ve built together and profoundly grateful for the incredible APJ Canada and U.S. Boards whose leadership, passion, and dedication make this mission possible. @suzanneboyd_ @joannebull13 @amandabrugel @strombo @sholehalemifabbri @danamaksimovich @deliciously_rosem @jwoodross @kardinalo @katherinealexanderdaniels

And a heartfelt thank you to our community here in Toronto— your support over the years has helped raise more than $36 million to fuel education, empowerment, and change for Haiti. What we have achieved together is powerful, meaningful, and lasting.

The impact is real.
The work matters.
And the resilience of this community continues to inspire me every single day.

Haiti is forever in my heart 🇭🇹❤️
