If I could sit across from my 25-year-old self tod If I could sit across from my 25-year-old self today, here’s what I’d tell her.

Be fully present for all of it. Trust your gut. And remember that some of the most important work you’ll ever do is to make someone else’s life a little better.

At 25, I was a single mom with a seven-year-old son. Life wasn’t a series of carefully considered decisions. There wasn’t much time to sit around and ponder what I wanted to be when I grew up. I just did.

I worked hard.
I figured things out.
I took the next step and then the next one after that.

My goal was always to earn respect.

Respect through hard work.
Respect through showing up.
Respect through doing what I said I was going to do.

And while that belief has served me well, what I’ve learned over the years is that success is far more nuanced than I understood back then.

Success is grounded in reputation.

- It’s how people experience you.
- It’s whether your actions match your words.
- It’s the meaningful opportunities you create for others.
- It’s how you show up for your community.
- It’s your willingness to use your time, resources, and influence in service of something greater than yourself.

Reputation is built by the lives you help along the way.
Because at the end of the day, very little of what we accomplish is achieved alone.

Success may begin with ambition, but it is sustained by relationships.

Relationships have always mattered deeply to me.  Looking back, some of the greatest gifts in my life didn’t come from the work itself - they came from the people.
Some of the most meaningful friendships, partnerships, and opportunities in my life came through work- not because I was networking, but because I genuinely cared about the people I met along the way.

The future arrives faster than you think.

Parents get older.
Children grow up.
The people you love won’t always be exactly where they are today.

So work hard.
Dream big.
Build the business.
Earn the respect.

Just don’t forget to be fully present to enjoy the life you’re building while you’re building it.

I’d love to know: what advice would you give your 25-year-old self?

Plot Twist: @Zellers1928 Is Officially Back. Last Plot Twist: @Zellers1928 Is Officially Back.

Last week, Zellers announced its return to Ontario, with new locations opening in Toronto and Windsor. The first Ontario store will open in Toronto at 80 Orfus rd on Thursday June 18th. For many Canadians, Zellers is more than a retail store. It’s a reminder of weekend shopping trips, childhood memories, and a brand that became part of everyday life for generations. 🇨🇦

What makes this comeback particularly interesting is that it isn’t simply about recreating the past. It’s about reimagining a Canadian icon for today’s consumer. The strongest brands understand that nostalgia alone isn’t enough. It has to be paired with relevance, evolution, and a clear understanding of what people are looking for now.

I’ve always been fascinated by the rare companies that earn a place in our collective memory. The fact that Canadians are still talking about Zellers years later speaks to something every brand hopes to achieve: lasting emotional connection. ✨

Sometimes the most successful comebacks aren’t about returning to where you were. They’re about honouring where you’ve been while building something new.

What looks like maintenance is actually efficiency What looks like maintenance is actually efficiency. 🖤

I’ve learned that the small, repetitive decisions in life can quietly drain your energy. So over the years, I’ve built systems around them.

I wear mostly black because it simplifies getting dressed. I buy multiples of the things I love because once I find something that works, I don’t need to keep searching for the next thing.

I have my hair done at home because it saves me time.

I tailor my clothes because I want everything to work together. The right pant length for a sneaker is different than the right length for a heel or a boot. When clothing fits properly, I feel more confident, more comfortable, and I spend less time thinking about what I’m wearing.

The older I get, the more I realize that simplicity is a luxury. It’s the ability to be intentional with your time, energy, and attention, and to focus on the things that matter most.

It’s one of the many topics I explore in NK Confidential - my Substack where I share the thoughts, lessons, observations, and conversations that don’t always fit into an Instagram caption.

At The Summer Edit with @lauracanada ☀️✨ We recen At The Summer Edit with @lauracanada ☀️✨

We recently welcomed an inspiring group of fashion creators for a creative-led afternoon designed to explore personal style through Laura’s Spring Summer 2026 collection.

Set in a summer-inspired space at the @torontobeachclub, guests were styled in looks from the new Laura collection before joining a guided vision board workshop led by @taniatonello, where they explored the images, moods, and inspiration shaping their summer style. 🎨✨

What I loved most was watching creativity unfold in real time. It was a reminder that style is not  just about trends. It’s about identity, confidence, and self-expression. What we wear is often a reflection of who we are and how we want to show up in the world.

As someone who spends their career helping brands tell meaningful stories and bring them to life through thoughtful experiences, I always appreciate moments that encourage people to tell their own. 💫

What does your style say about you this season? 👗☀️
