Today is #Worldmentalhealthday—a day dedicated to raising awareness and mobilizing support for those facing mental health challenges.

I want to highlight an important initiative from our client partner, @bccstyle: the ‘Check-In’ program, developed in partnership with @Kidshelpphone, dedicated to youth mental health.

What I love about this program is how simple it is to reach out to someone who might need a kind word. Every guest visiting Bramalea City Centre has the opportunity to scan a QR code inviting them to ask family, friends, and community members how they’re doing. This simple act of reaching out can make a HUGE difference for someone who might be struggling with mental health issues. It also encourages them to
take some time to check in with their own feelings—something we could all benefit from today.

This initiative spans Morguard’s 18 shopping centers across Canada. For every check-in, the BCC donates $2 to Kids Help Phone, with a goal of raising $50,000 through 25,000 check-ins.

Like Morguard, I believe that raising awareness and providing resources is KEY to building healthier communities. I encourage everyone to take a moment to participate, as your involvement could be the lifeline that helps ease the challenges young people face today—like anxiety, stress, and isolation.
