Over $1 million raised for Ooch!

On Sunday, myself and a few athletically-inclined members of the NKPR team took part in the Sporting Life 10K Toronto for Camp Oochigeas, an organization that offers a summer camp and year-round programming for children affected by cancer. The atmosphere at the race was electric and so inspiring. There were more than 15,000 runners and walkers out on Yonge Street! The sight alone was something I’ll never forget, but here’s the best part: over $1 million was raised for Camp Oochigeas!

Here are some of my team’s favourite memories from the race…

Heather: “The energy of the crowd — it was a really cool thing to be a part of.”

Kristin: “The fact that I ran the entire race, which I didn’t expect to do.”

Sarah: “Standing at the starting line when the excitement of the crowd was growing.”

Brittany: “Crossing the finish line in a huge crowd and hearing hundreds of chip timers beep at the same time.”

Jordan: “Running with 15,000 people! I didn’t have an iPod so it was amazing to listen to thousands of feet running around me.”

Aimee: “Seeing the crowd as I approached the finish line. It was so inspiring.”

Lauren: “It was my first 10K and I ran 9K of it!”

Here are my favourite photos from the day (some were taken inside our pre-race meet-up spot: Kiehl’s Since 1851’s Yonge and Castlefield location):
